Loved & Made Worthy

Are you seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus? Are you a high achieving perfectionist holding yourself to an impossible standard? Are you ready to ditch the anxiety that comes with people-pleasing and overachieving? If so, you’re in the right place! It’s time to break the cycle of negative thoughts and let go of the labels that God never gave you. It’s time to embrace your God-given purpose and experience true and lasting peace. This is Loved & Made Worthy, the podcast for Christian women who want to know Jesus on a deeper level and let go of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and overachieving. When you visit here, you’ll find guidance for Spirit-led bible study, words of encouragement for Kingdom living, and a thorough look at who God is and what that means for our identity. I’m Erica, your host and fellow child of God, and let me tell you … I’ve been there. I’ve believed all of the things about myself that never came from God … I’ve worn labels like perfectionist and people-pleaser and anxious and obsessive-compulsive and SO MANY others I never should have worn and it was totally and completely exhausting. And after a lifetime of believing and embracing those lies, one day I was just done. God took me on a journey to discover a deeper relationship with him than I could have ever imagined and offered a new perspective on the truth of who I was. I discovered that only one label–one truth–mattered … Child of God. That single identifier allowed me to break free from all the others and begin working through my need to please others and do things perfectly. And I’m here to tell you that you can do the same. You can be done with the labels and trying to measure up to impossible standards. You can cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus. You can experience the peace that only comes with the knowledge of being a Child of God. During each episode of this podcast, we’ll dig into scripture to uncover the characteristics of God which will guide us in every area of our life. This will make us better equipped to deal with life, rebuke the enemy’s lies about who we are, and walk more steadily in faith. If you’re ready to embrace your God-given purpose & ditch perfectionism, people-pleasing, and overachieving for good … listen in. This is especially for you. You Can Count On It: God’s Design Through Numbers by Eli Borden
[Eph 2:8-10 ESV] 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
[Gal 5:22-23 ESV] 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
[Jhn 15:5 ESV] 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
[Luk 6:12 ESV] 12 In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.
[Mat 26:39 ESV] 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."
[Heb 5:7 ESV] 7 In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.
[Eph 6:18 ESV] 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
[Luk 4:2 ESV] 2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.
[Mat 6:16-18 ESV] 16 "And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

[Rev 5:2-5 ESV] 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?" 3 And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, 4 and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. 5 And one of the elders said to me, "Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals."

[Jhn 14:6 ESV] 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

[Jhn 16:33 ESV] 33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

[Jer 29:11 ESV] 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

[Eph 6:12 ESV] 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

[Phl 4:12-13 ESV] 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

[Col 4:2 ESV] 2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

[Jhn 16:27 ESV] 27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

[Rom 8:28 ESV] 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

[Rom 10:17 ESV] 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

[Luk 4:8 ESV] 8 And Jesus answered him, "It is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.'"

[1Th 5:16-18 ESV] 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

[Mar 13:10 ESV] 10 And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations.

[Phl 4:12 ESV] 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.

Trigger Warning: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - please see note below

Have you ever wondered if what you’re hearing inside your head is actually from God? Are there some lingering worries you’re making it up yourself or that maybe what you’re hearing is from the enemy?

If so, you’re not alone!! Listen in for 3 practical steps to take in discerning God’s voice so that you can make decisions rooted in faith and not fear.

NOTE: If you're struggling with mental health, please seek the proper help. The church has done so much damage with the belief that you can be healed of your mental struggles if you had enough faith or prayed hard enough. You won't find that message here. We don't put God in a box; while he can and does work miraculously, he can also work through therapy and medication.
I don't share this story to say that I was miraculously healed and you can be too. God delivered me just enough to make me see his power and relational nature but still be reliant on him. There are good mental days and not so good ones, but in all of them, God is still loving and faithful.

[Isa 30:21 ESV] 21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

[Jhn 10:27 ESV] 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

[Rom 10:17 ESV] 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

[Jhn 3:16-17 ESV] 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

[Heb 13:17 ESV] 17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

[Pro 11:14 ESV] 14 Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

[Jer 17:9-10 ESV] 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 "I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds."

[Pro 28:26 ESV] 26 Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

1 John 1:5-10 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
